Hospice care for all, for now, for ever
Hospice care eases the physical and emotional pain of death and dying. Letting people focus on living, right until the end.
But too many people miss out on this essential care. Hospice UK fights for hospice care for all who need it, for now and forever.
As the national champion for the community of more than 200 hospices across the UK, we fight to make sure hospice care is there for everyone, from every background. We fight to make sure hospices are able to deliver the best, most personalised care. We fight to make sure hospices can thrive - today and into the future.
And we do everything we can to support hospices’ invaluable work.
This animation announces Hospice UK’s exciting new vision, mission and strategy, and with it, a fresh brand identity.

My Dad was dying and he was frightened - how should i have helped him ? This is in my mind all the time that i didn't know how to comfort him. He didn't believe in God, but Mum did, and as he was actually taking his last breaths, i told him to walk towards the light because that was where Mum was and she was waiting for him. I hope that helped him, but it was the months before he died, he spent 3 months being frightened - that is no way to end your days. What should i have done better, he could talk to the hospice lady, but it was dueing covid and she only came twice and when she told me he was frightened of dying, i didn't know what to do. My job was to look after him and i didn't know how to talk to him about it - this kills me

"It really isn't a conversation to be scared of." I think this is correct. Rather, it is scarier when no one will discuss what they know, have to contribute, wish for, what they feel, etc. Thank you for sharing. This was beautifully done and your openness is helpful. Bless you and all who loved your mum and dad. May God comfort you as you continue living with loss. Sincerely, K

"Superhero's are not suppose to die " .... Unquote , not my words however when it comes to Debbie , they resonate who she was . I have such a low perception of humans and the evil they are capable of. The one thing Debbie taught me is that there are still good humans out there. or in Debbies case , exceptional Humans.

The truth is the aged care systems needs to change. Palliative care only seems for a few I am sure if you have money you get good palliative care. I don’t see anything changing in the future.

I have money to pay for good palliative care. Yet, I still do not have much. My husband is in hospice, but I still feel very unprepared about what to expect. They simply cannot say, or maybe I am still in denial and cannot hear what they have to say.

I would also like to say that the biggest narrative of death is the Battle. If we want to ease the fear we should not frame death as a battle.

Superb panel! Really interesting. Preparing for death, rebranding death and the acceptance of death is the way towards changing some of our culture. I am developing conversation and process cards for families based on these principles.
